Grants to Local Organisations

District Council Grants:

The Vale of White Horse District Council will be offering two grant schemes starting next month with £175,000 available to support the local community.The Capital Grants scheme and New Homes Bonus community grant scheme opens on 20 August and will run until 15 October for people to apply.Workshops to give guidance on the grants and help people to apply for them will be offered 4-6pm on 8 August in Abingdon, 10 August in Faringdon and 15 August in Wantage. Parish Council Grants

The Parish Council has a small Grants budget from which it may be able to award grants to local organisations, who can demonstrate that they are open to and run for, the benefit of the residents of the North Hinksey Parish Council area.

Grants are awarded on an annual basis.

Energy Efficiency Grants:


Working with other organisations, the Vale has secured funding from the Government and energy utility companies to offer grants to help residents with the cost of energy saving home improvements, including:

  • DECC Green Deal Communities Phase Two: Grants of up to £3k for homeowners and private renting tenants in receipt of benefits, tax credits or pension credits.
  • Better Housing Better Health: Project funded by the British Gas Energy Trust offering grants of up to £2.5k for homeowners with cardiovascular and respiratory health conditions.
  • British Gas boiler scheme: Free energy efficient boiler upgrades for homeowners and private renting tenants in receipt of certain benefits, tax credits and pension credits.
  • British Gas insulation scheme: Free loft and cavity wall insulation for any homeowner or private renting tenant.
