Casual Vacancy

30/03/2010  Applications are invited for Co-option of a Parish Councillor until the next Parish Council Elections in May 2011.  The following notice will have been displayed on noticeboards since 30th March 2010.

Co-option of a Person to be a Parish Councillor for North Hinksey Parish Council until the next Parish Council Election in May 2011.

 

 

As a result of the resignation of a Parish Councillor, the Electoral Registration Officer of the Vale of the White Horse District Council has agreed that the Parish Council can co-opt a new person as a Councillor, who will serve in that role until the new Parish Council election in May 2011.  The person co-opted to the Council will be required to sign a declaration that they will conform to the requirements of the Local Code of Conduct for Parish Councils. 

 

The Parish Council meets eleven times a year, (monthly apart from August); the Planning Committee meets on average once every three weeks and the other Sub-Committees on average three times a year.

 

To qualify as a Co-opted Councillor, a person must be either: -

·         A Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, or a citizen of another Member State of the European Community,

·         Be 18 years or over,

·         Not disqualified by any statute,

·         An elector of the Parish, or

·         During the whole of the last 12 months has either occupied as owner or tenant land or other premises in the parish, or

·         Has a principal or only place of work in the Parish, or lives within 4.8 kilometres (three miles) of the Parish boundary.

12/04/2010   A casual vacancy has arisen due to the resignation of a councillor who has had to relocate for work purposes.  The following notice has been displayed on noticeboards since 1st March 2010.

                Notice is hereby given that due to the resignation of Councillor:

                    A Vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for the Parish of  NORTH HINKSEY.

 

               The vacancy will be filled by election if any TEN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTORS of the said electoral area submit a written request for an election to be
               held to 
fill the vacancy to:

Oxon.  OX14 3JE

 

             Within FOURTEEN DAYS after public notice of the vacancy has been given.  In computing these fourteen days mentioned
             above, you disregard a Saturday and Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday or a Bank
             Holiday or a day appointed for Public Thanksgiving or Mourning. 

 

                 If no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by Co-option by the Parish Council.
